Darlene Frances Booth Leffel, 78, of Ridgeway, Va. passed away on Friday, December 1, 2017. She was born on June 9, 1939 to the late James Ralph Booth and Edna Gladys Dillman Booth. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Lee Leffel; and brothers, Sonny Booth, Tommy Booth, and Jake Booth. She is survived by her daughters, Edwina McDow of Farmington, N.M., Frances Jones of Concord, N.C., M. Telene Morris of Martinsville, Va., and Sabrina Starling of Martinsville, Va.; sons, Shane Leffel of Danville, Va. and Ottie Leffel of Ridgeway, Va.; sisters, Mary Pruett, Rose Austin, Lilly Green, Dolly Poe, Ruth Lemon, and Betty Davidson; brothers, George Booth and Donnie Booth; grandchildren, Lauren McDow, Shannon Pointer, Chase Starling, Bryson Leffel, Emily Leffel, Mason Leffel, and Addison Leffel; and great-grandchildren, Tristan Pointer and Remington Pointer. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Norris Funeral Services, Martinsville Chapel. Bernice Law Joyce, 91, of Gretna died Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem. Born July 29, 1926 in Tams, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Harry Law and Hattie Koger Law. Mrs. Joyce was predeceased by her husband, Frank Edwin Joyce; two brothers, James Law and William Law; and two sisters, Carol Bowling and JoAnn Wood. Mrs. Joyce was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gretna and was a home maker. She was a member of the Gretna Garden Club and a former member of the Gretna Lioness Club. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, golfing and collecting antique dolls. She is survived by nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. R.G. Rowland. Graveside services will be conducted 3:30 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Blackberry Baptist Church Cemetery in Bassett. Samuel “Grant” Fullenwider, 77, passed away in Martinsville, on Tuesday, December 5, 2017. He was born in Rosalia, Washington to the late Samuel Babb and Harriet Jane Hetrick Fullenwider. He graduated from Rosalia High School and Eastern Washington College of Education. He was a teacher for several years before joining the Army. He rose to the rank of Captain during his career, and received a Bronze Star in 1969 for his service in Vietnam. After leaving the Army, he moved to Danville and worked for the Pittsylvania County Service Authority. He retired in 2006. Mr. Fullenwider was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Jane Gillespie. He is survived by cousins and friends on the West Coast and in Danville and Martinsville. A memorial service will be held in Martinsville at a later date. He will be interred with his family in the Rosalia Cemetery. Wright Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
