Othello Arrington, 95, of Bassett, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Blue Ridge Therapy Connection in Stuart. He was born on March 5, 1922 in Franklin County to the late Sam B. Arrington and the late Pearlie Trent Arrington. He was also preceded in death by his step-mother, Zelma Hudson Arrington; sisters, Nancy Cassell; infant Beatrice Arrington, Annette Wall and Myrtle Elliot; brothers, Edward Arrington, Earnest Arrington, Sidney Arrington and Glenwood Arrington.
He served in the United States Army where he was a World War II Veteran. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church for 64 years where he was a Trustee, Assistant Treasurer, an Usher and assistant Sunday School Superintendent.
Othello is survived by his loving wife who he married on February 26, 1946 (71 years), Margaret Grant Arrington; son, Roger Dale Arrington of Williamsport, Pa.; grandchildren, Michael Arrington( Lisa) of Denver, Colo. and Kristian Arrington of Lansdale, Pa.; great-grandchildren, Madeline and Ella Arrington both of Denver, Colo.; brothers, Maurice Arrington of Bassett and Gilbert Arrington of Winston Salem, N.C.; sister, Gloria Lynch of Kernersville, N.C.; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Chris Atkinson officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Burial Park in Martinsville.
