CVS will buy insurance giant Aetna in a deal worth about $69 billion, according to CVS’ corporate website. The report indicates the merger of the drugstore chain and one of the nation’s largest health insurers will ensure a steady stream of customers into CVS stores, which have been expanding into a one-stop health clinics that now offer physicals, flu shots and cholesterol screenings. CVS has stores in Martinsville and Henry County. Aetna participated in the Affordable Care Act insuring people in Martinsville and Henry County this year, but has since withdrawn from the market.
